Three major violent crimes have occurred in the last month in the CWE and arrests have been made in all three. A rape that occurred on Boyle in the Central West End. Bicycle thief arrested

KMOV reports this morning that, over the weekend, the police apprehended the bicycle thief that had been responsible for a large number of thefts in the CWE in the past few months. Many thanks to Jim Whyte and the NSI for publicizing the videos and images of the man’s previous burglaries, which ultimately led to the man’s identification and arrest.

Homicide on West Pine

Police announced this morning that they are treating the shooting death of Jocelyn Peters in the 4200 block of West Pine as a homicide instead of a suicide as had been indicated earlier.  No signs of forced entry and no weapon was recovered.  This has now been reported by KMOV and the Post Dispatch.  I will follow this and will post any developments as I get them.  Very sad and shocking.

Tues night assaults

Last night there were several reported robbery events in the CWE that we would like to bring to your attention. At approximately 6:40pm, near Taylor and Forest Park, a victim reported being surrounded by a group of teenagers, one of whom demanded his phone. Additional recent crime updates

On Thursday, 02/18/16, at approximately 9:10pm, A young woman was the victim of a street robbery. As she was getting out of her car at 4550 Forest Park (near Euclid) she was approached by 4 suspects. One indicated he had a gun and punched her in the face knocking her to the ground. The suspects took her purse, car keys and phone and ran south toward the Metro stop. Friday car jacking – update

A suspect in the car jacking that occurred early Friday morning at the Schnuck’s on Lindell is now in custody.   Police were following up a lead based on evidence provided by one of the victim.  Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.
