Dear Residents,
The Street Department asks for your help this fall. Together, we can keep our streets cleaner and safer! Our Street Sweepers clean 1,100 miles of roadway monthly. But during the busy Fall season, our crews have the extra task of sweeping up leaves. Here are some tips to help make this season a success for all of us.
Plan Ahead
Fall leaf pickup runs from the first Monday in November through December 31 on the regularly scheduled street sweeping days. So, you’ll want to plan leaf clearing from your yard according to your street’s monthly sweeping date. We know leaves fall throughout the season, so please use the green yard waste dumpsters provided by the City to dispose of additional leaves from your yard.
Follow the No Parking Signs on Your Street
Please park elsewhere during your street’s restrictive hours. In addition to receiving a fine, a parked car prevents a portion of the street from being swept. It also poses a danger to the sweeper driver who must avoid illegally parked cars. Please be a friend. If you notice that your neighbors have parked during restrictive hours, remind them to move their vehicles for street cleaning day.
Avoid parking on leaf piles.
Heat from your car can set leaves on fire and put your vehicle at risk.
Remove Large Items from Street
Please help us by removing large items in the street, such as tree limbs or cardboard boxes. The sweeper was not designed to pick these up, and they can damage the machine, causing service delays.
Contact the Citizens’ Service Bureau
Please contact CSB if your street was not swept on schedule, if cars parked on your street have not been moved since the last street cleaning day, and if you have any other City-related issues, such as potholes, missed trash pickup, or street lights out. Report online on the City’s website, by phone 314-622-4800, or on X @stlcsb.
