STL ADA Transition Plan Meeting Volunteer sought

The City of St. Louis is having a two-dimensional (i.e., “virtual”) meeting this coming Thursday, November 12th, to discuss the Americans With Disabilities Act and its further implementation in our City.
If anyone would like to represent our neighborhood association at the meeting, please contact Harold as soon as possible at 314-574-1231.

Subject: City of St. Louis – ADA Transition Plan – Neighborhood Association Meeting

The City of St. Louis is developing a report and plan to find and eliminate problems that individuals with disabilities have using the City’s facilities (including buildings, parks, streets, and sidewalks) and programs (including social services, tax payments, hiring for City jobs, etc.).  The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) calls this making a Transition Plan.

We need your help and that of your neighbors to identify where problems exist.  We invite you to a virtual meeting to be held on NOVEMBER 12 AT 2:00 PM to discuss the project and seek you advice on both the problems in the City and how to invite your neighbors to give us their advice.  We ask that each neighborhood send one or two representatives to the meeting to give every neighborhood in the City a chance to participate.  Future public meetings are planned that will be open to anyone interested.

At the meeting, we will describe the City’s past efforts, the recent actions we have taken, and discuss how you can be a part of the development of the Plan.  The meeting will be virtual for citizen safety during this pandemic.

A link to the meeting is at the bottom of this invitation.  There will be an ASL interpreter on the screen and available captioning.  If anyone needs other accommodations, please contact the Office on the Disabled by phone at (314) 622-3686 or at https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/disabilities by November 6th.  The PowerPoint presentation for the meeting is attached.  If you would like to submit a question prior to the meeting please send your questions to ADA_STL@stlouis-mo.gov

For those who would prefer to phone into the meeting, please call 1-404-448-1697 and the access PIN is 302154515.

People who tell us about particular accessibility issues will help assist the City establish priorities and timelines.  To get advice from as many people as possible, we have an on-line survey for people to express their opinions and help guide the development of priorities.  We ask participants in the meeting to disseminate the survey to as many individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and all others who live in the region.

We ask that all survey responses be received by December 1st to allow time to incorporate into the document.

If you would like to view and/or take the on-line survey before the meeting, it can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/stladasurvey.

Thank you in advance, and we sincerely appreciate your participation to increase accessibility for all people in St. Louis!
