WPLNA MEETING ON TUES. 3/12/24 at 7:00

The West Pine Laclede Neighborhood Association will meet on Tuesday, March12th at 7 pm at Northwest Coffee, 4251 Laclede (at Boyle).  All are welcome!

Our featured speaker will be Sharon Olwig. As most of you already know, Sharon & her husband Bob have been responsible for the restoration; beautification; and maintenance of the park in the cul-de-sac at the east end of the 4100 block of West Pine (at its intersection with Sarah). Sharon
has some exciting news that she’d like to share with us about a new development concerning the park itself.

Two points FYI:

  1.  The City just has started accepted applications for the Tax Freeze program designed for “oldies but goodies”. The appraised valuation of one’s residence cannot exceed $500,000 for eligibility for the Tax Freeze Credit.

2.  Utility work on Kingshighway – Delays expected March 20 at 8 pm through March 25 at 6 am.

  • Extensive utility work in northbound Kingshighway to support the new patient care tower at Barnes-Jewish Hospital will cause significant delays starting at 8 pm Wed., March 20 and concluding by 6 am Mon. March 2w5.  It will entail a lane shift for4 northbound Kingshighway traffic at Barnes-Jewish Plaza into one southbound lane.  Impacts include the following:
  • Northbound drivers will be able to turn right from Kingshighway onto Barnes-Jewish Plaza
  • Barriers will prohibit left turns from Kingshighway onto Barnes-Jewsih Plazas and Hospital Drive (Hospital Drive enters Forest Park across from Barnes-Jewish Plaza.
  • The traffic signal at Kingshighway and Barnes-Jewish Plaza will be turned off to keep northbound and southbound traffic moving to prevent backup.
  • The northbound traffic will shift back into northbound lanes at the traffic light in front of the BJH emergency department.
  • Traffic control flaggers will help keep vehicles moving.

April wrap up:  Contractors will complete the utility work starting at 8 pm on Friday, April 5 and concluding by 6 am Monday, April 8.  This work will NOT require a lane shift or detour; however, northbound Kingshighway adjacent to the patient care tower will be reduced by one or two lanes.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
